Www.Ftb.Ca.gov/Online/Refund – Where Is My California Tax Refund?

It is tax time and you should have submitted or filed your taxes by now. If you did not file your taxes – both Federal taxes and your state taxes and you did not file for an extension, then you are late and will most probably be fined. I usually try to file my taxes on time but this year I had to file an extension. I usually file early too. So if you are one of those people who filed your taxes early, then you should be eagerly waiting for your refund. If you live in the state of California and have not received anything yet, you may be wondering “Where Is My California Tax Refund? If that is your question, then you should be able to get the answer at the State of California Franchise Tax Board website at www.ftb.ca.gov/online/refund.

You will be able to check your California Tax Refund status at the website. To check your CA tax status refund, you will need a number of items. These include your social security number, your physical or mailing address, the amount that you should be refunded on. You will be able to find your refund amount on your tax return.

Normally once you have filed your California tax returns, you should expect a check or refund within 7-10 days if you filed your taxes on online. This means that you efiled your taxes. If you mailed in your taxes instead, then you will have to wait a little bit longer. You will basically have to wait 8-12 weeks. This period starts from the date that you mailed your return.

If you just filed your taxes either online or you submitted it via regular mail, then you should not even attempt to check your refund status at the website at www.ftb.ca.gov/online/refund. This is because your taxes may not be processed yet. So give it a few days before you check online . As I mentioned, I usually file early. So by now I would have received my refund. That is always a wonderful gift for me. I usually end up getting something and it always feels like Christmas or that I am getting a bonus. I usually go on a vacation with the money. So tax time is fun for me.

However for many of friends, it is a time of stress and worry. Many of them file at the last minute because they know that they owe taxes and do not have the money to pay. Usually you will be able to pay in increments if you are not able to pay the amount all at once. A lot of my friends also use the services of an accountant. They itemize and try to get as much refund as possible.

I have done my taxes many different ways and have not figured out the best way yet. I even used the online services provided by certain companies. I never got much that way and it sometimes got frustrating as I would get stuck in the middle of filing and would have nobody to ask as it would most probably late at night. So I have gone through everything.

In order not to get frustrated during tax time, I started filing early. I enjoyed it thoroughly as I was less stressed. However, this year I have been so busy at work that I did not get a chance to file early. So I became as stressed as my friends. I totally get their stress as it can be very frustrating to file at the last possible moment.

I am lucky again though as i will get another refund this year. It will be a while yet before I get mine but at least I do not have to pay anything. I feel sorry for my friends who do. I even have some friends who are completely broke after they have paid their taxes. I have had to bail them out a time or two. So hopefully if you are asking where your CA Tax refund is, you can check your refund status at the website . It is really easy to do and it will give you peace of mind. You will know exactly what is going on and you do not have to worry if your check is lost in the mail. That is my biggest fear. I am so afraid that I will not get my check. So set your mind at ease and check your refund status online.

Where’s My State Tax Refund? Check Our Map

by John Sepulvado / February 12, 2014

Kathy Waterbury was walking the hallway at work when another employee at the Mississippi Department of Revenue (DOR) stopped her.

“What they told me was that a man had filed his state taxes but hadn’t gotten his refund,” Waterbury, the communications director for the DOR, explained. “And when they asked how long ago the man had filed his taxes, he told them about three hours before he called.”

While Waterbury laughed about the exchange, she said taxpayers are looking for their refunds much more quickly than they have in the past.

“They want their money, and in the age of computers, they want it now,” she said.

Of course, a little impatience is a signal that e-filing and rebate check site pages are being embraced by the public. Utah State Tax Commission spokesman Charlie Roberts told Government Technology that almost 80 percent of tax filers are using e-delivery to process their taxes.

“A couple years ago, we thought we’d hit a ceiling at around 50 percent,” Roberts said. “But it just keeps going up, rising steadily over the last six years.”

As for the refund status site page, it’s “one of the most popular [in Utah]” Roberts said.

Forty-two states offer refund status checks. Florida, Alaska, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas and Washington don’t have state income taxes, while Tennessee and New Hampshire don’t have a site.

Meanwhile, some states that offer the online refund status update have incurred the wrath of the public for suspending service because of outages or page maintenance. In one Northwest state, a revenue clerk said they were berated by a few callers because the website wouldn’t load in a particular Internet browser.

“I feel their pain,” said Waterbury. “If the site’s down, phone calls are coming in, and the people that are answering the questions are also the ones that are responsible for fixing the site. So something suffers, because they can’t do both!”

There’s a lot of demand on Web services in Mississippi, Waterbury added, as 90 percent of all tax payers use e-file.

For his part, Robinson said things aren’t that heated in Utah.

“We get that rarely,” Robinson said. “We9rsquo;re telling our electronic filers that it’ll be two to five weeks before they get their refund, so the expectations are set early. The people more likely to get frustrated are the paper filers. That can be up to three months [for the return to process].”

In Mississippi, Waterbury reported that many people want more information than the state can give them.

“We have to protect privacy,” she added. “We can’t tell them if their refund is on step two of 18, and I think they want to know that. And we want to be able to tell them, but we have to be careful.”

Waterbury also noted that, like many states, fraud is following the e-filers. She said a big reason the state is limiting specific information provided on the site is to help limit the cases of people filing fraudulent returns, then disappearing after the direct deposit is issued.

“This is electronic fraud, and it’s different because of the speed and lack of paper trail,” Waterbury said. “We know it can be frustrating, but overall, it’s a great system and it’s getting people their money fast.”

Guide To Tax Refund In The United States

VAT in Europe is tax imposed on products and in Australia they’re called GST. When you go to the United States you have to pay sales tax if you’re buying Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Celine, Hermes or Dior Bags. This post is about how to claim sales tax back in the United States when you’re a tourist just like when you go shopping in Europe.

Unfortunately, there is no way to refund the sales tax in most of the States in the US. However, there are some exceptions:

  • There are States with no sales tax: so when you go shopping in these States, you don’t need sales tax.
  • There are two States where you actually can apply for tax refund: this only applies for tourist.

But let’s start with the basics. What is sales tax? And how much is the sales tax?

Sales tax in the United States is a consumption tax on goods and services. Every product you purchase must be included with Sales Tax. Sometimes the price tag in the shop doesn’t include this, so be aware that the ultimate price might be higher. Local citizens, tourists and other foreigners are all required to pay this tax. The retailers collect the sales taxes at the moment of transaction. So when you go to the cashier and pay, the retailer will add the sales tax on the top of the product price.

Each country in Europe has their own VAT. It is the same in the United States, each State has their own rate of sales tax. The rate varies and can go up or down every year.

Even inside the States, the sales tax can be different in every city. Capital cities and larger cities that attract a lot of visitors or tourists can have higher sales taxes.

A few states in the US do not impose sales taxes, because they want to encourage people to shop. The states that do not have sales taxes are Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon. If you’re travelling in the US and you’re lucky enough to visit these States, make sure you shop until you drop.

There are two states that have a tax refund program for tourists, they’re Louisana and Texas. You can claim the sales tax back after shopping. There are rules of course and processes that you need to go follow. But it works just like claiming VAT back in Europe. Here is how:

How to claim tax refund in Louisana?

2. Show your passport: When you make the purchase, you need to show your foreign passport to verify you’re eligible for tax refund.

3. You pay with sales tax: When you buy, you’re going to pay the purchase price, which include the sales tax. The sales tax can be refunded later on.

4. Collect the voucher, sales receipt of invoice: It’s important that you let the SA know you’re a tourist, so that she can give you all the necessary papers.

5. The Refund Center: To claim the sales tax back, go to the nearest ‘Refund Center’. The centers are located in different places:
